The BRAZ-TESOL Curitiba chapter was founded in April 1998. It has already organized several events, including the 4th Southern Cone Tesol Convention in July 2001 and the 9th Southern Cone in 2011.
It holds local events throughout the year.
Since 2015, it has been organizing a series of events, called GROWING THRU CHALLENGES: three seminars for professionals in the field of English Language Teaching (ELT) to discuss issues related to their professional development, reflect upon their practice, and open their minds for what else they can do to grow professionally. Each one-day seminar in the series has a specific theme:
1. Seeds For The Future: The first event of the series took place in October 2015 and, as the name says, had the objective of preparing the ground for sowing the seeds for professional development.
2. Blooming & Blossoming: The second one took place on May 13, 2016 and presented some outcomes of the planting, how the seeds have developed.
3. Thriving & Innovating: the third one will take place on October 21st (Friday). We will see how the ELT profession is doing, what outcomes have broken thru, in one sentence: ‘how the seeds have thrived’, that is, become successful!
It will be a forum for professionals in the field to discuss issues related to their professional development, reflect upon their practice, and open their minds for what else they can do to grow professionally.
"Thriving and Innovating" will take place on October 21st (Friday) from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., at PUCPR, Bloco 1 (Amarelo) – CTCH, Campus Curitiba, Rua Imaculada Conceição, 1155 – Prado Velho.
