Chapter's Board

Paula Chedid

Paula Chedid is a bilingual educator, teacher trainer, and course coordinator with over 15 years of experience teaching English to children and teenagers. She holds degrees in Political Science from Montclair State University (USA) and Pedagogy from Brazil, as well as the CELTA from Cambridge. She is also a Cambridge English Speaking Examiner and is currently pursuing the Bilingual Education Academy program by Oxford University Press. A BRAZ-TESOL member for about seven years, Paula has been actively involved in the Santa Catarina Chapter since 2022 and currently serves as its Leader. She is passionate about bilingual education, teacher development, and building professional communities that foster collaboration, knowledge sharing, and continuous growth among English language educators across the state.

Marcia Scarpari

Márcia Maurer Scarpari is a dedicated teacher and coordinator at a private school. She holds a degree in Letras, a specialization in Foreign Language Acquisition, and a postgraduate qualification in Bilingual and Multilingual Education. Currently, she is pursuing an online language development course offered by NILE. She has also completed a Teacher Training Course at Oxford House College in London. Márcia has led workshops on English language teaching for educators from various fields, and she worked for sixteen years at a language school, serving as both a teacher and a pedagogical coordinator.

Marcia ScarpariChapter Coordinator

Angela Cardoso

Angela has worked in education for 30 years at schools in Brazil and England. She is the Primary Years Programme coordinator and Director of Teaching and Learning at Bonja International in Joinville. As a PYP coordinator, Angela has led the implementation of the IB programme in her current school. She holds a Master?s degree in Linguistics from UFSC and is currently pursuing a PhD in Applied Linguistics at UNICAMP. Passionate about student agency, she champions collaborative planning and inquiry-based learning as key drivers of meaningful education. Angela is committed to empowering students and teachers to co-create dynamic, student-centered learning environments.

Angela CardosoChapter Coordinator

Gerson Borges

Gerson has over 12 years of experience teaching English to students from Brazil and around the world. He works as an independent English teacher, specializing in one-to-one instruction and proficiency exam preparation. He holds the CELTA, the C2 Proficiency and TKT qualifications, and is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Linguistics from UFSC. He is passionate about communicative language teaching, pronunciation and learner-centered education. His teaching practice draws on communicative, task-based and Dogme approaches, with a strong focus on helping learners develop confidence, autonomy and effective communication in English.
