MBE Xchange presents: The process of oral skill development in bi/multi/plurilingual scenarios

Spoken discourse is often neglected in English language teaching in Brazil, where the focus has traditionally been on writing skills and normative structures, which can be demotivating for students. Although the BNCC has acknowledged English as a Lingua Franca (ELF), and research has highlighted the cognitive and sociocultural benefits of plurilingual education, there is still a need to further legitimize the role of spoken discourse in English teaching.
In this brand-new recurring event by BRAZ-TESOL’s MBE SIG, MBE Xchange, we are honored to welcome Eduardo Schiller to discuss, answer questions, and exchange experiences related to classroom practices that prioritize spoken discourse.
