STHEFANIE DUARTE

Biodata
Sthefanie Duarte is a licensed EAL teacher with a BA in Translation and a specialization in English Language Teaching. Her passion for words has taken her on different journeys in her 19 years of experience. She is currently working at Cultura Inglesa, PL Idiomas and SEDF. She has worked as a teacher, pedagogical coordinator, materials writer and consultant - with experience in designing and conducting teacher development initiatives in different educational contexts.

Statement of purpose
I am running for the position of coordinator at the Center-West Chapter because I am aligned with the purpose of the Association to build a strong community of educators. By fostering opportunities to help teachers develop professionally, we can also impact and make a difference in our communities. As I have been part of the BT Brasília and now Center-West chapters, I am aware of the roles we need to play in order to organize, deliver and promote events with successful results and positive impact for our community. I am confident I have the necessary skills to collaborate and support the members of the Center-West board to reach and help teachers grow professionally.

ANA LÍGIA BARBOSA DE CARVALHO E SILVA

Biodata
Ana Lígia Silva is a postdoctoral researcher in linguistics studies at the São Paulo State University (UNESP), Brazil, with an M.A. and a Ph.D. degree in Applied Linguistics (Unicamp). Her research interests include language assessment and testing in ESP, English for pilots, needs analysis, and test design.

Statement of purpose
As a BRAZ-TESOL member for many years, and willing to contribute to the growth and strengthening of the area of ESP language teaching and assessment, I am running for this position of ESP-SIG Coordinator, with a few projects in mind, such as organizing an ESP study group and helping our SIG leader in putting together webinars and other presentations. With my academic and professional background of more than 20 years of experience in teaching one-to-one lessons to professionals in different areas, researching needs analysis, and designing Aeronautical English proficiency tests for pilots, I hope to contribute to making our SIG even stronger, more interesting and welcoming to new members.

LORENA PRISCILA DANTAS DE LUNA

Teaching English with a specialization in preparing students for proficiency tests required for admission to Master's and Doctoral programs, also I have an Youtube channel to promote my work. Researching English for Specific Purposes, primarily focusing on the healthcare sector. Founded and managing own business offering courses tailored to preparing students for proficiency tests since 2019, primarily operating online. Successfully guided numerous students towards achieving proficiency in English for academic purposes.

Statement of purpose
As a dedicated English teacher with 13 years of experience (including experience teaching in College and in a Federal University). and a current Ph.D. student at the University of Évora in Portugal, specializing in English for Specific Purposes (ESP) in the health area I am enthusiastic about the opportunity to serve as coordinator for the ESP SIG within Braz-Tesol. My background in teaching and research equips me with the necessary skills and insights to facilitate meaningful discussions, promote collaboration, and foster professional development within the group. With a focus on ESP proficiency tests in recent years, I am committed to advancing our understanding and application of ESP principles in diverse educational contexts. As coordinator, I aim to support the growth of our members, contribute to the advancement of ESP pedagogy, and promote the importance of ESP studies in Brazill. I believe that the field of English for Specific Purposes (ESP) in Brazil remains relatively underdeveloped and would greatly benefit from further exploration and research. As a current Ph.D. candidate specializing in this area, I am prepared to contribute with fresh perspectives, innovative ideas, and collaborative efforts that are essential for its growth and advancement.

ANA CAROLINA ANDRADE DE LUCA

Ana Carolina Andrade de Luca (Carol Luca) has been teaching for 9 years. She currently teaches adults. She believes in teaching the student how to learn beyond the classroom. She is the founder of Inglês dos Sonhos com Carol, where she teaches students to get closer to their dreams through English. She holds CPE and TKT (Modules 1,2 and 3) certificates. She is graduating from Letras at UFMG this year.

Statement of purpose
I am running for this position at BRAZ-TESOL because I am deeply passionate about contributing to the English language teaching community in Brazil. I have created some online groups with other teachers to help each other and being part of different communities of teachers. With a strong commitment to professional development and a desire to make a positive impact, I aim to utilize my skills and experience to support teachers and learners alike. As a volunteer, I seek to foster collaboration, share knowledge, and drive innovation within the organization. Together, we can enhance English language education and empower individuals to achieve their language learning goals. I am excited about the opportunity to serve and inspire others through BRAZ-TESOL. I have been interested in running for this position for a while now, I believe with my 9 years of experience teaching and a few years running my own business I have developed some skills that will help me in this position. I hope to learn with the BRAZ-TESOL members in Minas Gerais and all over Brazil, so that we can help each other and foster development. I expect to help grow our chapter, reaching more teachers in Minas Gerais. I am also passionate about teaching students how to learn beyond the classroom and being a teacherpreneur, I hope I can help others with these skills!

Holding postgraduate degrees in Higher Education Teaching and School Management, she is certified in language teaching methodologies like TESOL and TEFL. As the coordinator and co-author of significant books in Bilingual Education, Viviane is recognized for her commitment to teacher training and innovative pedagogical practices.

Statement of purpose
I would like to participate in the coordination of the BRAZ-TESOL MG chapter because I see it as an exciting opportunity to continue promoting the advancement of bilingual education in Minas Gerais. As the coordinator of the Bilingual SIG and with my background in Languages and Pedagogy, along with specializations in Bilingual Education, Inclusive Education, and Gamification, I feel well-equipped to make a significant contribution to BRAZ-TESOL's mission of promoting excellence in language teaching. My experience as a co-author of significant works in the field and my commitment to teacher training and innovative pedagogical practices enable me to lead initiatives that strengthen the educational community and drive the professional development of educators in our region. ISABEL BADRA

Isabel Badra is a private English teacher, teaching business English since 2018. She holds a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from FAAP, as well as the CELTA and CPE certificates. She has taken the FTBE preparation course ministered by Evan Frendo, and is always creating content aimed at BE learners on social media.

Statement of purpose
I am running for this position because I intend to help in fostering a community of like-minded professionals who want to improve their business English practice as well as being a part of a strong community. Business English teachers need support furthering their skills to better cater to their learners' needs. As Braz-Tesol is a well-established association, teachers looking for a place to learn more about business English will find a trustworthy place in the Business English SIG. I have been a BESIG coordinator in the past and I am fairly experienced in running a SIG. I am extremely dedicated and passionate about business English and I aim to continue spreading accurate knowledge and best practices.
